Carl V. Asche, MBA, MSc, PhD, is currently a Research Professor in the Department of Pharmacotherapy at the University of Utah Health College of Pharmacy in Salt Lake City and Executive Director of the Department’s Pharmacotherapy Outcomes Research Center. He also serves as the Director of the Post-Doctoral Fellowship Program in the Department of Pharmacotherapy along with appointments as Research Service WOC employee, Veteran’s Affairs, Salt Lake City Healthcare System and Associate Member, Cancer Control and Population Science Research Program at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. His Research focuses on the use of comparative effectiveness research and cost-effectiveness analysis in health care decision making. His academic work has comprised of authoring and co-authoring over 150 peer-reviewed publications appearing in medical and economic literature. He serves on numerous national and international health economics-focused boards and committees, including editorial, grant review and advisory bodies. Dr. Asche’s current research is funded by a variety of federal agencies and pharmaceutical companies. He earned his PhD (Economics) from the University of Surrey, MSc (Health Economics) from the University of York, and MBA from the City University of Seattle.

Dr. Mélodie Bernaux, MD, MPH, MSc, is a medical doctor specialized in public health and serves as a Policy Officer and Seconded National Expert in the Digital Health Unit of the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (SANTE C1) at the European Commission
In her current role, she is involved in negotiating the European Health Data Space regulation and overseeing the implementation of secondary use of health data including the EHDS2 pilot project, TEHDAS2 joint action and development of central services.
Before joining the European Commission, she was responsible for the European health data space regulation and European ethical principles for digital health in the Digital health delegation of the French ministry of Health.
Previously, she served as medical officer for human reproduction, embryology and genetics at the Directorate General for Health of the French ministry of health, where she led the 2021 revision and application of the French bioethics laws for all aspects related to medically assisted reproduction, genetics, the implementation of artificial intelligence in healthcare and medical care of intersex children. She was also an active member of the Council of Europe’s Bioethics Committee, where she chaired the working groups on intersex children and public dialogue on genomic medicine.
She joined the French ministry of health from Greater Paris University Hospitals where she was responsible for a number of strategic projects involving the secondary use of health data, including the COVID data task force.

Marianne Benderra holds a Master’s in Law and a Master’s in Political Science with a focus on International Relations from Sciences Po Paris. She has worked at the Council of Europe on local and regional governance issues and as a management consultant supporting EU agencies. Since 2022, she has been with the Health Data Hub’s Europe & International team as a Project Manager. She coordinated the „HealthData@EU pilot” project, building a first version of the European Health Data Space for secondary use, which concluded in December 2024. She currently co-leads Work Package 7, „Safe and Secure Processing,” TEHDAS2 Joint Action, together with the Health Data Lab.

Maciej Bobowicz works as an assistant professor at the 2nd Department of Radiology at the Medical University of Gdansk, Poland. As a researcher and a medical doctor, he is an enthusiast of the responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence in medicine, particularly cancer imaging. Jan-Willem Boiten, PhD, is senior program manager at Lygature (https://www.lygature.org/) with a specific focus on large-scale biomedical data infrastructure programs, such as TraIT, a Dutch national IT infrastructure supporting translational research projects, EATRIS-NL, and Health-RI (https://www.health-ri.org/), the overarching Dutch health data infrastructure for research and innovation.
Within Europe Jan-Willem is work package leader in several large European IMI and Horizon projects such as BIGPICTURE (https://bigpicture.eu/) targeted at AI development in digital pathology, QUANTUM (https://quantumproject.eu/) developing quality and utility labels for datasets to be published under the EHDS, and EOSC4Cancer (https://eosc4cancer.eu/) building a research infrastructure community enabling data-driven cancer research. In these projects he developed a specific interest in methods to share sensitive data, and to support the responsible development of AI models.
Jan-Willem is trained as a chemist and received his PhD at the University of Nijmegen in 1995. Subsequently, he joined the pharmaceutical company Organon where he held several managerial positions within R&D informatics.

Jean-Marc Bourez is the CEO of EIT Health Europe and Co-Managing Director of EIT HealthServices and Investment GmbH. He earned a Medical Sciences Degree from Lille University School of Medicine and a Graduate Degree in International Economics and Marketing from a business school in Paris (ISG). With a career spanning back to 1992, Jean-Marc has held various positions in the pharmaceutical industry. He has served in roles such as Commercial Operations in Cardiovascular, Field Medic Training Manager in Neurosciences, Product Manager in Osteoporosis, Regional Managing Director in Cardio-Metabolism, and Customer Relationship Management Director. Prior to his current roles, he was the former head of the eHealth & Open Innovation department at Sanofi.
In 2016, Jean-Marc was appointed as Managing Director of EIT Health France, a Knowledge Innovation Community supported by EIT, a body of the European Union. Pia Brinkmann studied Psychology at Maastricht University (NL), followed by a Research Master in Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience specializing in Neuropsychology. Driven to learn more about the brain and its functioning, she continued her research journey at Maastricht University, after stops in Spain and Canada. She obtained a doctorate stipend from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation and started her PhD in 2020. In 2024, she successfully defended her PhD on auditory neuroscience and started working at the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM). First, at the Health Data Lab, and now at the Data Access and Coordination Office, being actively involved in TEHDAS2 coordinating WP7, in particular tasks 7.2 and 7.5, together with the French Health Data Hub team.

Grzegorz Bulaj is an Associate Professor of Medicinal Chemistry in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Utah. His research is focused on digital health technologies and drug+digital combination therapies for chronic diseases, with emphasis on epilepsy, chronic pain, cancer and depression. He published over 130 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. Dr. Bulaj is also an entrepreneur and co-founder of biotech, digital therapeutics and consulting companies. He received his PhD degree in biochemistry from the University of Wroclaw, Poland.

Salvador Capella-Gutierrez, PhD, leads the Coordination team of the Spanish National Bioinformatics Institute (INB) at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC). He is the coordinator of EOSC4Cancer. Bioinformatician with a solid technological background in both Computer Engineering and Health Sciences received his PhD in Bioinformatics in 2012, awarded by the Center for Genomic Regulation (CRG) and Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona).
Dr Capella-Gutierrez has been responsible for the technical coordination of INB/ELIXIR-ES, for the coordination of TransBioNet and co-leads the ELIXIR Tool platform since January 2020. His current focus is on developing long-term infrastructures to facilitate benchmarking efforts of research software in Life Sciences, including individual tools, web services and workflows, and innovative techniques to use research data available across different infrastructures. His work implies an active role in various European, national and local projects, including EOSC4Cancer and IMPaCT-Data.

She worked as a research associate at the Biophysical Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences. After earning her doctoral degree joined the Institute of Computer Science at MU as a coordinator of European projects in IT infrastructure. She has been leading the IT and data infrastructure team at BBMRI.cz national node. As co-chair of the Federated Search Task Force within BBMRI-ERIC, she coordinates the development of an international platform for federated sample and data search. Prof. dr hab. n med. Wojciech Fendler (ur. 1982) jest jednym z wyróżniających się młodych naukowców w kraju. Ukończył studia na kierunku lekarkskim Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Łodzi w 2007. Doktorat uzyskał w 2011 za badania nad rolą mutacji genu proinsuliny jako czynnika sprawczego cukrzycy monogenowej. Stopień doktorat habilitowanego – za badania nad epidmiologią, patogenezą i biomarkerami cukrzycy monogenowej – uzyskał w roku 2013. Późniejsze badania dotyczyły wykorzystania wolnokrążących mikroRNA – w radioterapii i onkologii. Prowadzone wspólnie z Dana-Farber Cancer Institute projekty poskutkowały komercjalizowanym wdrożeniem testu do diagnostyki raka jajnika oraz licznych zgłoszeń patentowych. Tytuł profesora nauk medycznych uzyskał w 2020 roku. Jest autorem kilkuset prac naukowych w renomowanych czasopismach (Diabetes Care, Science Translational Medicine, Nature Communications, Cell Reports, Elife, Diabetologia, Cardiovascular Diabetology i Biomarker Research). Kierował, kieruje lub pełni funkcję opiekuna naukowego w ponad 20 projektach finansowanych ze środków krajowych i unijnych m.in.: OPUS NCN (3x), SONATA BIS, SONATA, PRELUDIUM (7x), Perły Nauki, FIRST TEAM FNP, INTER FNP, IMPULS FNP. Od początku swojej kariery naukowej dąży do upowszechniania wiedzy za zakresu analizy danych i wspiera młodych naukowców w opanowaniu umiejętności kluczowych dla samodzielnej pracy naukowej – w szczególności z biostatystyki i rzetelności naukowej. Just before her current position as an International coordinator and Programme officer at the Swedish e-Health Agency, she worked as a Business area Manager at an IT company. Currently, she leads part of the Swedish contribution to the EU Joint Action: Towards the European Health Data Space 2 (TEHDAS2).

Markus Kalliola is a programme director in Future well-being solutions programme in The Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra. He is the coordinator of Joint Action Towards The European Health Data Space 2 (TEHDAS 2) and Value from Nordic health data (VALO) projects. Both projects aim for the successful implementation of the European Health Data Space regulation.
Prior to Sitra Mr. Kalliola worked in the European Commission in DG Sante where he was responsible of the cross-border healthcare IT projects. He has vast experience in data economy and in the next years he will work towards healthier and fairer data economy for Europe.

Passionate about Big Data, she developed an award-winning master’s program in Big Data and mentors digital health startups.
Author of The Digital Transformation of the Healthcare System (2023), she has published 50+ IF papers, presented at 60+ conferences, and leads AI initiatives at the Polish Chamber of Physicians.
